Hey, there, Genesis here. I’m the founder behind the Just Write It movement. What started as a simple book idea to help writers finish their book has turned into something much bigger and much more exciting.
In 2011, I had exactly one book out. It took me 10 years to finish that book and finally publish it.
My first novel took 10 years to finish.
And that book? Sold six copies. That’s it. It never went anywhere, despite spending so much time writing, rewriting, editing, having other people review it, then editing and rewriting some more. All that time, just for crickets.
When I saw that bully academy reverse harem was taking off, I decided to jump on the bandwagon. The problem? People were writing and throwing up books so fast, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to compete. I certainly couldn’t take 10 years to jump on the trend.
That’s when I did something crazy.
I set up a preorder with a blurb for an imaginary book and a cover that was pretty generic. This was my test to see if it would sell. And it did! People started preordering all over the place, but now…I had to write the book. And with a tight deadline, I whipped it out in less than two months.
That’s what taught me that I was perfectly capable of turning out a fiction book in much less time. And that’s what I’m here to share with you today. Just Write It came about because when I was pressed for time, it turned out I could write really fast and just get the words down. Any fixing could come later, after that first draft was done and the book was written.
So, if you’re struggling to finish your book, maybe you just need a little Just Write It!
